Erika Smith has over twenty years of business management and technical experience within the life science industry spanning the fields of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics. She has held key positions in product development, quality assurance/ regulatory affairs, marketing, and business development. She has extensive experience in developing business and marketing strategies for emerging technologies and established product lines. She is currently a Venture Advisor for Rock Spring Ventures and is responsible for sourcing, performing due diligence and supporting closure on investments. Rock Spring Ventures, LP (RSV) is a venture capital fund that invests in early-stage, high-growth life science companies in the United States and United Kingdom. RSV’s focus is on providing start up and growth equity capital to young companies currently developing commercial applications of novel research.
Spanfeller Media Group was founded in June 2010 by Jim Spanfeller. The Spanfeller Media Group brings media into the digital age through premium subject-specific content. Its first site, The Daily Meal launched in January 2011 and already is among the largest food sites on the Web. The venture-backed company launched a second vertical content site in 2011, with a third one slated for the second half of 2012. In August 2011 Spanfeller Media Group closed $6 million in series B funding led by VantagePoint Capital Partners.

Founder Tania Yuki has spent most of her career in digital marketing, measurement, and analytics, and was recently honored with a Great Mind Award from the Advertising Research Foundation. She was named by Forbes as one of “12 Women Driving Digital in New York.
